O brasileiro Sérgio Pessoa – campeão Panamericano 1987, disputou as Olimpíadas 1988 – atualmente, técnico da seleção canadense de judô desde 2003, convida a comunidade judoística do Rio Grande do Sul a prestigiar o 34º Quebec Open, no Canadá, que será realizada em outubro, nos dias 8, 9 e 10, torneio realizado todos os anos com participação de diversos países. “Judocas gaúchos, será um prazer em recebê-los aqui em Montreal”, comenta.

Conforme Pessoa, após o torneio, haverá um treinamento de campo em Montreal/Canadá e finalizando com o tradicional NY Open, nos USA.

New York Open and Quebec Open

Some of the best judo players in the world compete in the New York Open and the Quebec Open, with outstanding judo matches.

The Tournament Directors of the New York Open and the Quebec Open Judo Championships have partnered to announce the New North American Judo Championship Tour announced for October 2010.

This new program will allow domestic and international competitors to participate in both
events and camps within a 10-day period. The North American Judo Championship Tour will encourage additional high-level athletes from around the globe to participate in both events.

The North American Judo Championship Tour will begin with the Quebec Open Judo Championship (October 8th -10th) followed by a four-day training camp in Montreal, Canada. Buses then will bring the athletes/coaches/officials who have participated in the Canadian event to the New York Open Judo Championship (October 16th) in New York City, USA. After
the competition at the New York Athletic Club, there will be a two-day training camp.

Also this year a new partnership between Montreal (CAN) and New York (USA) will allow your judokas to participate in two international tournaments and training camps over ten days. In 2010, the New York Open will take place one week after our Quebec Open. Shuttle buses will leave Montreal after our training camp to bring competitors to New York.
